Indian River School District holding kindergarten registration online
SELBYVILLE, Del. – For the first time ever, the Indian River School District is doing kindergarten registration online. “We’re hoping this actually ends up being a convenient way, as well as a safe way for parents,” said supervisor of early education Audrey Carey.
Carey tells 47ABC the school district is trying to make registration as easy and safe as possible for parents and students. The link is on their website’s home page. Parents will be guided through figuring out which school their student will attend once clicking it. Next, they can upload their child’s information for registration.
Carey says even though children can’t go meet their future teachers now, the school district is excited to let them do so in the fall. “We’re hoping to be up and rolling to have this process streamlined now and for the future, and then the registration is out of the way so when fall time comes it’s the great part of just meeting their teachers and exploring the school,” said Carey.
The online registration also works for older students who are transferring into the district. The school district is planning to hold kick off events like open houses in the fall. Carey says that as usual, class lists will be posted online and on the school doors late this summer.
