Del. State Police arrest Seaford man in connection to domestic incident & other charges

SEAFORD, Del. — Delaware State Police say they have arrested a man in connection to a domestic-related incident involving his girlfriend in Seaford.

Police say on May 3rd, just before 9;45 p.m., troopers responded to the report of physical domestic incident on the 6000 block of Woodland Ferry Road in Seaford.

Once troopers arrived, witnesses say that 54-year-old, Bretley W. Knox, was seen driving a dark pickup truck all over the road and almost struck a ditch.

Witnesses say Knox was then seen pulling into a driveway, when a female passenger was heard screaming for help. Knox proceeded to pull the women out of the vehicle and began hitting her.  The women was able to get away and walk to a nearby home.  The 39-year-old women was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries. Witnesses then say, Knox re-entered the vehicle and proceeded to drive off.

Troopers say they found Knox a short time later at his home in the 28000 block of Roxbury Court in Seaford. Reports say a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the 54-year-old. He initially refused to leave his home and was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

Knox was transported back to Troop 5, where a DUI investigation ensued and a computer inquiry revealed that Knox had 6 previous DUI convictions.  Knox has been charged with the following:

  •  7th Offense DUI (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Offensive Touching
  • Disorderly Conduct

Knox was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26, 2000 cash only bond.
