Cash Grants for SNAP Recipients

An app aimed at giving people who get SNAP benefits a way to easily access their account is partnering with a non-profit to help low-income families get a cash grant.

The two companies have teamed up to give families who get SNAP benefits money to help them through this pandemic.

People who get food stamps and use the Fresh EBT app will see a survey inside the app, all they have to do is fill it out, and that starts the process of getting the grant.

Fresh EBT app COO Jeff Kaiser says the program is has helped thousands so far but they want to do more for people.

“We’ve raised quite a bit of money, $80 million dollars to date. We’re hoping to get to the $100 million dollar mark so we can help 100,000 families who use the Fresh EBT app we built which is basically a mobile banking app for anybody with an EBT card,” says Kaiser.

So far 30,000 families have received the $1000 grant, but Kaiser says they need more money.
