Worcester County revising budget for 2021
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – The Worcester County Commissioners are revising their budget for 2021 due to concerns about the financial impacts of COVID-19. Under the revised budget, property and income taxes will stay at the same rates. The county also cut about $15 million out of more than $221 million of requests for next year.
Worcester county’s chief administrative officer says they’re focusing on taking things step by step and keeping its constituents in mind. “If things don’t change six months from now I’ll come back and ask the commissioners to do a budget re-evaluation and we’ll adjust the budget accordingly if things don’t change,” said Harold Higgins.
Worcester County commissioners are inviting the public to give their input at a meeting on May 5th, which will be live streamed. Higgins tells 47ABC he encourages everyone to take part so that the county can serve them in the best way possible.
