Teachers parade for students
DELMARVA – As many students and teachers are forced to stay home and quarantine – some local teachers are giving their students something to cheer about. A large group of teachers at Holly Grove Christian school paraded through Maryland and Delmarva to celebrate their seniors. Teachers say they covered 131 miles just to make sure they got to all of their senior students.
They also dropped off personalized signs for each student to put in their front yards. Holly Grove teachers say they wanted to make sure they stay connected with their students, and spread a little joy. “They’ve missed so much with their senior year and this just gives them a little bit of just joy, fun, to know that we all miss them as much as they miss us,” said teacher Shelly Clark.
Clark tells 47ABC it took a full day to get around to all the students, and teachers dropping off signs practiced social distancing in order to be safe. She also says teachers had to split up into two groups to get around Accomack, Worcester, Somerset, and Wicomico Counties.
