Severe Weather Awareness Week
It’s that time of year again! As we push into the spring season, severe weather will become more of a possibility. Each year, the National Weather Service designates a certain week as Severe Weather Awareness week, and that was this week for Delmarva.
Each day this week was dedicated to a certain severe weather event, such as flooding, damaging winds, tornadoes, hail, and lightning. Below is a look at some important facts on each severe weather event.
While these graphics were created by the National Weather Service in Maryland, the rest of Delmarva is also observing Severe Weather Awareness this week. Severe weather can impact any state in the country, and Delmarva is no stranger to severe weather. We are a little less than two weeks away from the one year anniversary of the April 15, 2019 tornado outbreak here on Delmarva. Three tornadoes touched down that day; one in Maryland, and two in Delaware.
Now is the perfect time to prepare for the severe weather season by reviewing some severe weather safety tips. You can find helpful tips and severe weather facts by visiting a couple websites developed by the National Weather Service. You can click here or here to explore.
