Republic Services supports employees and Delmarva businesses

47 ABC – Republic Services, a trash removal company, is supporting more than 100 of its essential employees on the Delmarva Peninsula with a new initiative.

Through their “Committed To Serve” initiative, Republic Services is providing weekly meals to its 125 employees at its Felton and Delmar divisions. They’re also providing a meal for those employees to bring home to their families every week. The food is bought through local businesses and restaurants, many of which use Republic Services. We’re told the entire initiative really comes full circle by thanking essential employees and also supporting local businesses.

“You know, ‘Hey this is a huge shot in the arm to our business. It’s helping keep our doors open. This is helping us from laying off our employees.’ That’s all feedback we’re getting from our customers. So it’s really been nothing but appreciation from our employees, Republic Service employees and our customers out in the communities that we service,” says Geoffrey Jacobs, the general manager for Republic Services.

Republic Services has committed $20 million to the entire initiative nationwide. Locally they’ve already spent $17 thousand at local restaurants including Delmar Pizza, Glasgow Deli and Vincenzo’s Pizzeria & Gelato in Dover.
