More than 200 new cases, 5 new COVID-19 related deaths announced in Del.


SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says an additional five Delawareans have died as a result of the coronavirus.

We’re told that four of the five individuals were Sussex County residents, including a 62-year-old woman, 80-year-old woman, 93-year-old man, and 95-year-old woman. The fifth was an 81-year-old Kent County woman. All of these individuals were either hospitalized or living in a long-term care facility.

To date, a total of 72 Delawareans have died from complications of COVID-19. These individuals have ranged in age from 33 to 98.

An additional 207 cases have been confirmed, bringing the state’s total to 2,745. 1,229 of those cases have been in New Castle County, 430 in Kent, and 1,055 in Sussex. In addition, 31 cases have an unknown location.

256 individuals are currently hospitalized, 64 of whom are critically ill. 495 individuals have made a full recovery in Delaware.
