Magnolia family spreading cheer instead of fear
MAGNOLIA, Del. – A family in Delaware is doing what they can to spread cheer instead of fear. They’re decking out their roof with Christmas lights each week to send messages of hope to their community. Christy Curley tells us at first the family put the lights up to make their youngest son feel better, but it wasn’t long before they decided to include the community by lighting up the night with roof-sized messages.
Curley says she hopes everyone can get a little bit of joy from her family’s shining display. “Whether you’re a healthcare worker or a truck driver or you know a fire fighters, first responder, whatever. If they could just take a little bit of joy out of that when you can drive by and see it and just go, wow okay we’re all in this together,” said Curley.
Curley tells 47ABC she estimates there to be about one thousand lights making up the displays, and that the theme will change every week. Curley also says her family is thinking about designing a display that will honor farmers in the near future.
