Local family offers free meals during COVID-19 pandemic

MILTON, Del. – In Milton, a local family is stepping up to the plate to help serve hundreds of people free meals during the pandemic.

The family owns M&J SWAT, a catering service and on Sunday, the team handed out hundreds of free meals to people in the community at a drive-thru they set up in the municipal parking lot on Magnolia Street.

With the help of first responders, they also gave out meals to health care workers at Bayhealth and Beebe hospitals.

Organizers say they simply want to help make a difference.

“We just try to do our part because we just don’t know, we don’t know want tomorrow may hold for someone, so we want to make a little bit easier for them,” said Jennifer Evans, organizer.

On Sunday, the group also delivered meals to local shelters.

They are also asking for more food donations so that they can continue to host more events in the future and help more people during this uncertain time. For more information on how you can help, call 302-245-6790.

The Evans family says they will be hosting another drive-thru food giveaway next Sunday.
