Helping the community through the Kindness Box

SALISBURY, Md.- In Wicomico County a resident is helping the community with something called a Kindness Box.

Deborah Ritterson of Fruitland started a donation box filled with free non-perishables and she calls it her Kindness Box.

Originally, Ritterson had it out the day before Thanksgiving.

Ritterson said the box is a way to honor her dad who passed away.

People who are in need of food are able to come as they please and help themselves, and given what’s going on with the current pandemic we’re told this box has been helpful to a lot of people.

“Its just a way to keep my dads memory alive and just to help people, especially right now, there’s just so much uncertainty,” Ritterson said. “I feel like he would be, this would be something that he would stop and stock up himself.”

We are told that people have helped to make donations for the Kindness Box.

If you’d like to help you can reach out to Ritterson on the Kindness Box Fruitland Facebook.
