Atlantic General Hospital makes improvements to facilities
BERLIN, Md. – Atlantic General Hospital is making improvements to their facilities to help them better care for COVID-19 patients. The hospital says they modified airflow within its buildings and created multiple negative pressure spaces. The negative pressure helps to pump contaminated air outside and bring fresh air into the building.
AGH’s director of support services says this was made possible by Royal Plus, which supplied air filters. The hospital says changing the air flow will help to keep everyone in the hospital safer. “Any virus that is in the room stays in the room and then is exhausted directly to the atmosphere, so it doesn’t get into the rest of the building. It keeps our patients safer and it keeps our staff safer,” said director of support services Glenn Lebedz.
Lebedz also tells 47ABC that the duct work is in the ceilings, so maintaining it will be easier, and the system won’t be as noisy. Atlantic General Hospital says they’re also expanding their ICU capacity and putting in negative pressure systems in their operation rooms.
