DELMARVA – A Delmarva deli is offering half off all food purchases for medical professionals. The owner tells us this includes nurses, doctors, and pharmacists. The discount is available to anyone on the front lines of the medical field visiting Rosenfeld’s Jewish Delicatessen locations in Rehoboth Beach or Ocean City. “I’ve always tried to do as much philanthropy as possible. When the government shut down a year or two ago, out of my Salisbury location I fed the TSA workers for free and I fed the air traffic controller’s for free,” said owner Warren Rosenfeld.

Rosenfeld says he already gives discounts for firemen, first responders, and military personnel, but he wanted to help feed others who might be coming in close contact with COVID-19. The owner tells 47ABC discounts help the community both by caring for those on the front lines, and businesses hurt by dine-in shutdowns. “Offering the medical professionals the 50% discount was the right thing to do. It gives them an incentive to buy food that they otherwise might not buy. It lets us do a really good thing for the community, recognizing the people right now that are truly on the front lines,” said Rosenfeld.

The deli owner says he took inspiration from his father, who owned a restaurant in Washington, D.C. and would feed the homeless and people in need. Rosenfeld says he’s planning to expand the discount to supermarket and postal workers in the coming weeks. The deli is open for carry out, curbside pick-up, and delivery.
