Lady Hawks upset top-seeded Bethune Cookman to move to MEAC semifinal

NORFOLK, Va- The Maryland Eastern Shore women’s basketball team scored the upset of the tournament in day two, defeating defending conference champion Bethune Cookman 61-55 on Wednesday afternoon.

Adrienne Jones finished with a game-high 21 points for the Hawks and pulled down 7 rebounds. Teammate Amanda Carney came off the bench to put in 14 points, including a perfect 6-6 performance at the free-throw line. Bareisha Gill-Miles pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds in the upset win.

The Hawks advance to the semifinals where they await their opponent. This is the second time the Lady Hawks have upset a #1-seed at the MEAC tournament since 2015. (Hampton)
