Habitat for Humanity volunteers begin build in Milton

MILTON, Del. – Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s teamed up with women volunteers in Milton today. The volunteers banded together to start building a home for a Sussex County single mother and her two children.

This year more than 60 women participated in Sussex County Habitat’s Women Build program. Today’s build took place during Habitat for Humanity’s International Women Build Week. Sussex County Habitat for Humanity leaders say volunteers prepared for today’s build by meeting with Lowe’s building experts.

“Over the past year we had about six clinics that were led by Women Build committee, and they taught about 60 women how to use power tools, and how to saw, and how to kind of put in windows, flooring – really the whole building process,” said Katie Millard, director of development and advocacy for Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

In total, Habitat for Humanity says about 6,000 women across the United States, Canada, and India will chip in this week to help on build projects.
