Salako putback edges CR at the buzzer
CAMDEN, Del. – The Smyrna Eagles got a buzzer-beating putback from Olumuyiwa Salako to sink the Caesar Rodney Riders 58-57.
Caesar Rodney got off to a quick start in the first quarter by moving the ball around and finding easy shots inside the paint. Smyrna woke up, and began to get looks inside five feet.
After a shaky second quarter where both teams struggled offensively, both squads starting firing from the three-point line. The Riders knocked down three straight shots from deep to climb back into the game and took their first lead of the game since the first quarter in the fourth.
Both teams traded leads down the stretch before CR had a one-point lead with 5.8 seconds left to go. Off the inbound, the ball found Salako running down the length of the court. Salako missed the initial shot but got the putback to fall securing the victory for the Eagles.
