The Lone Star Championship Rodeo returns to Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. — Get ready to saddle up for the weekend because the Lone Star Championship Rodeo is back in Salisbury for the 23rd time.

47 ABC’s Erica Murphy was joined on the desk by Rachel Boyd to talk about the true American sport.

Boyd, the event operator, says they’re happy to have their 23rd year of rodeo right here in Salisbury. She says this is the 2020 Horseman Tour, so a lot of history will be shown, and of course a lot of great rodeo.

The skills shown at the championships take a lifetime of work to master.

The event will be taking place at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Friday, January 24th and Saturday, January 25th.  So for two nights, local residents get a great lineup of bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling and more.

Events for kids ages 10 and under start around 7 p.m. before the rodeo kick-offs at 7:30 p.m. Kids can even participate in the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest and gold rush on both nights.

Tickets start at $13 for children ages 12 and under and $17 for adults. They are also offering a $20 VIP ticket which includes floor seats, early entry starting at 5:50 p.m., up-close personal experiences and much more.

For more information on tickets and pricing, you call the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center at 410-548-4911 or visit their website at
