Man who assaulted Wicomico Co. council member sentenced

SALISBURY, Md. – A man who beat a Wicomico County Council member with a bat last year took a plea and learned his fate in court earlier this week.

On Tuesday, 42-year-old Ian Lundberg learned that he will spend the next seven years behind bars, to start exactly one year after the assault. That same day, Lundberg entered an Alford plea, which means he is not guilty or innocent, but accepts the evidence against him.

The incident happened back on June 6, 2019, when Lundberg forced his way into Councilman Larry Dodd’s house, repeatedly punched him, then beat him with a bat after getting into an argument over a dog biting another dog.

Lundberg will be on supervised probation after serving his sentence, and is also under a no-contact order with Dodd.
