Former Greensboro Police Chief pleads guilty to misconduct in office

GREENSBORO, Md. – Former Greensboro Police Chief Michael Petyo pleaded guilty to one count of misconduct in office on Friday.

According to the Statement of Facts read at the guilty plea, Petyo submitted an Application of Certification on behalf of Thomas Webster to the Commission for certification as a Greensboro Police Officer. In the submission, Petyo made multiple intentional misrepresentations and factual omissions.

Petyo was sentenced to two years, all suspended, with three years’ supervised probation.

Petyo was originally charged back in November.
