Popular bass fishing pond revamped

MILLSBORO, Del. – One of the most popular places, in the state, for bass fishing tournaments has a new look.

On Monday, community members and officials gathered at the Millsboro Pond with DNREC to celebrate the completion of the renovation project. The area got a new boat ramp, expanded parking lot, lights and a courtesy dock.  Officials say this area will also handicap accessible which will help make it safer for everyone.

“If we didn’t have great boat ramps and safe boat ramps in places where people that are disabled can actually enjoy the water they would go to some other state. And we want them to come here,” says U.S. Senator Tom Caper, a Democrat who represents Delaware.

The project cost was more than half a million dollars. However, officials say the investment is worth it because the ramp helps boost tourism and local businesses that rely on the fishing industry.
