Police increasing patrols, presence for New Year’s Eve

SALISBURY, Md. – If you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve in Salisbury on Tuesday night, officers want you to know they’ll be around to keep you safe.

With major events like Tuesday night’s, police say they increase patrols and visibility to make everyone feel more comfortable.

Of course, with any event that thousands of people attend, police are on high alert for any chance of violence.

Local police tell 47 ABC that, while they’ll be out in higher numbers, they are still encouraging everyone to stay vigilant and aware.

“Just don’t get complacent, don’t always assume that it could never happen here, it could never happen to them, and to keep an eye out, if you see something, say something,” Lt. Tim Robinson with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office said.

Police also say they’ll be out in higher numbers on the road, cracking down on anyone who drinks and drives tonight.
