Winter WonderFest at a new location with more attractions

MILTON, Del.- Winter WonderFest is back, but with a brand new location and look. They added a Coastal Christmas tree farm, express train ride, and a hayride through the lights spectacular.

“We saw communities across the nation have holiday events, a little but like this, but we were really inspired to create a one stop shop very big festival here in the beach region,” Peter Briccotto, WonderFest Event Director, said.

The non-profit organization put on its fourth holiday fundraising event, partnering with over 82 sponsors, but this time it’s in a new location, with new attractions.

“Now we moved our location to Hudson Fields hopefully to provide more parking and also bring all of our attractions to one festival ground,” Briccotto said.

The venue for the event includes a Scheville Christmas Village, a 1.5 – mile Light Spectacular, carnival rides, an ice rink, and live entertainment.

“I love it cause it’s basically like a children’s Museum for them, they love all the little houses and all the little toys inside every one and they have a blast every time we come,” Brittany Burslem, a Long Neck resident, said.

Through this event they have been able to raise money for Sussex County Charities and grow in ways they never imagined.

“We’ve been able to since 2016 to raise 150,000 dollars to grant to local charities for equipment needs,” Briccotto said. “We never could’ve imagined that in 2016 the event we had would grow into something this extraordinary and welcome over 70,000 people last year.”

The hope for Winter WonderFest this year is that it brings more people each year and that it continues to create a magnificent cultural festival that the community can look forward to around the holiday season.

The non-profit is always looking for new volunteers to help out during this time,  you can visit their website at to find out how you can get involved.
