Wicomico County leaders considering ways to speed up Morris Mill Dam work
WICOMICO Co., Md. – On Tuesday, Wicomico County leaders told 47ABC they are considering options to speed up construction on the Morris Mill Dam Project.
Originally, contractors estimated that work on the project would be complete by the end of the year, but it turns out they were a little too optimistic.
To speed things up again, the county is considering weekend work, but even that won’t guarantee that they get the project done. County leaders say even if they finished construction early, they may not be able to pour asphalt because it might be too cold. If that were to happen, they could temporarily put down gravel, but that would have to be approved by the Maryland Department of the Environment.
Dallas Baker, the Director of the Wicomico County Board of Public Works said, “So we’re looking at ways to try to shorten up that time frame but we think the March 30th is a much more realistic deadline and I would be hard pressed to say we wouldnt be done in five more months.”
