Volunteers pack 1,000+ boxes full of food for families in need this holiday season

SALISBURY, Md. – It was the perfect day Wednesday afternoon for volunteers to help pack hundreds of holiday meals for families in need. Volunteers were working like a well-oiled machine stuffing boxes with cans of sweet potatoes, greens, stuffing and more. In the span of 2 hours, volunteers packed more than 1,000 boxes of food. And we’re told that all of that work will help to provide more than 4,000 Thanksgiving meals to Eastern Shore Marylanders who are food insecure.

“Hunger has no holiday. When all of us are sitting at the table at Thanksgiving or Christmas and having that wonderful meal with our families, so too should those individuals who really are challenged by being able to afford food to put on their table this holiday,” said Maryland Food Bank, Eastern Shore Branch, Regional Program Director, Jennifer Small.

The Food Bank is always looking for donations especially with the holidays coming up. If you’re interested in donating click here.
