UPDATE: Two dead after car crashes into pole in Dover, victims identified

11/12 UPDATE: Dover Police have released the names of the two people killed in the early morning crash in Dover Sunday morning.

Police say the driver has been identified as 22-year-old Luis Bamaca Roblero, and the front seat passenger is identified as 28-year-old Kevin Castro-Giron.


DOVER, Del. – Officials are investigating a crash that happened early Sunday morning and left two people dead in Dover.

The accident happened around 5 a.m. near N. DuPont Highway and Leipsic Road. Police say a 22-year-old man was driving a Toyota Prius north when the car went off the east side of the road and hit a utility pole. The driver and the 28-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead on the scene.

Police believe alcohol and drugs are a factor in the crash. The names of the victims are being withheld until their families are notified.

The accident caused both Northbound and southbound lanes to be closed for about five hours. Power was also lost in the area for several hours. The Dover Fire Department, Delaware Department of Transportation, and City of Dover Electric responded to the scene.
