Pocomoke business sustains $200K in damages from fire

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – A mechanical failure caused about $200,000 in damages to the Eastern Shore Forest Products plant in Pocomoke City on Friday.

Tom Johnson, the owner and CEO of Eastern Shore Forest Products Inc., tells 47 ABC a malfunction sparked the fire just before 1 p.m. Luckily, no one was injured and Johnson says they will be running normal operations by the evening.

Johnson says the plant has a “robust fire protection system” and says firefighters “averted a catastrophe”. About six different fire departments responded to the scene. The plant is located at 33677 Peach Orchard Road.
