Gulls field hockey blanks Lynchburg, head to Final Four

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University’s field hockey team put on a dominant performance Sunday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium. The Gulls blanked Lynchburg, 2-0, and now head to the NCAA Division-III Final Four.

The Gulls were held scoreless in the first half, despite collecting nine shots and six corners.

Adrienne Johnston finally broke the deadlock with 1:18 off the clock in the third. Her bouncing shot skipped past the Lynchburg keeper to give Salisbury a lead that would seemingly never be threatened.

Jenna Partilla dashed any Lynchburg hopes of a comeback with her goal with 9:10 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Salisbury was dominant all afternoon, allowing no shots or corners to Lynchburg.

Salisbury advances to their 15th Final Four in program history.

The Gulls will play Middlebury in their next match on Saturday at 2 PM in Manheim, Pennsylvania.
