Family seeks help after fire destroys their business

TRAPPE, Md. – In Trappe, a family is asking for help after a massive fire destroyed their business.

The Friday afternoon blaze caused about a million dollars worth of damage.

The flames destroyed four historic wooden boats housed inside of the wooden boat building business workshop.

The family of five says they depended on their business for a living.

Friends have set up a GoFundMe page with hopes to raise 50,000 dollars for the couple and their three kids.

The family does not know what caused the accidental fire, but they tell 47ABC they are pressing forward.

“Moving forward, we’d love to rebuild and it provides an amazing opportunity for our family to be close, have a lot of time together and for Andrew to do something he’s passionate about,” said Jocelyn Abreu.

“When I say we make a living doing this, this is what pays our bills,” said Andrew Abreu.

“So, it’s either find a job or press forward and try to do this again, all over again,” said Andrew.
