DelDOT announces replacement of bridge over Wharton’s Branch in Dagsboro

DAGSBORO, Del. – The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announced on Monday that their contractor will begin the replacement of the bridge over Wharton’s Branch early next month.

The road closure is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, December 2nd, and is expected to be finished by mid-January 2020, weather dependent.

We’re told the work includes removing the existing two corrugated aluminum pipes and replacing them with a precast concrete box culvert and wing walls. Reconstruction of the roadway approach, installation of guardrail, and placement of riprap in the stream to reduce further erosion is also in the plans.

Motorists will detour from Nine Foot Road to US 113 onto Routes 24/30 – Millsboro Highway, and return to Nine Foot Road.
