Central rolls IR in week ten to finish their season 8-2
DAGSBORO, Del.- Putting up forty first half points, the Sussex Central Golden Knights coasted to the 47-7 win over Indian River. The Golden Knights finish the regular season with a 8-2, IR finishes at 2-8.
It was all Knights to start, they scored early and often. On their first drive, Phillip Stratton got them on the board with a short handoff up the gut to take the 6-0 lead. After an IR punt, Central would keep all the momentum. A handoff off the left side to Shihiem Williams, he makes four defenders miss in the backfield and he’s took it 70 yards to the house for his first score of the half. The Golden Knights took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Golden Knights would keep up the scoring. Just four minutes into the quarter, they’d get another score, Williams cutting across the field for his second score of the day to make it a 21 point lead. On the ensuing kickoff, IR would fumble, Central recovering inside Indian River territory setting up the Golden Knights in great position. On the first play of the drive, a handoff to Stratton up the gut goes 28 yards for his second of the night. On the first play of the next Indians drive, a tipped pass finds the hands of Joseph Megginson and he took it to the house. A 34 point lead midway through the quarter and the Knights weren’t done. On their last drive of the half, a handoff to TyJhir Sheppard-Parker goes to the end zone to close out the half. The Golden Knights would hold on in the second half to win 47-7.
