Caesar Rodney sweeps Dickinson in round one of the DIAA volleyball state tournament
CAMDEN, Del.- Sweeping Dickinson in three sets in round one, the Caesar Rodney volleyball team is moving on in the DIAA state tournament. The Riders will take on the winner of the Conrad vs St. Marks matchup on Saturday.
The Riders dominated the first set, taking it 25-9, carrying all of the momentum into the second set. Geena Edmanson (3) Lindsey Shuba (4) combining for seven kills in the first.
To begin the second set, the Riders kept up their dominance getting out to an early 5-0 lead. After a Rams ace, Dickinson would try and turn the tables. They would take a 7-6 lead appearing to shift the momentum forcing a CR timeout. After the time out, the Riders waking up a little and end the set on a 19-5 run to take the 2-0 set lead.
In the third set, Caesar Rodney needing just one more set to end it, the Rams wouldn’t go away easily. Late in the set, Dickinson would be up 21-18 with their eyes set on extending the match another set. Down three set points, the Riders turned to their girls in front of the net. Edmanson and Amanda Eric combined for eight kills in the third set to complete the set comeback and keep up the shut out 3-0 over Dickinson.
