Parkside High School employee arrested on child sex charges
SALISBURY, Md. – An instructional assistant at Parkside High School is accused of sexually abusing a child.
According to the State’s Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Jonathan LeRay Eure was arrested Tuesday morning after being placed on administrative leave.
Wicomico County Public Schools released a statement on Tuesday saying that they are cooperating with investigators, had already put the instructional assistant on leave and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Eure is now charged and indicted for sex abuse of a minor, perverted practice and fourth degree sex offense.
The State’s Attorney’s Office says the 36-year-old from Salisbury is alleged to have engaged in quote “multiple instances of sexual contact with the minor victim who was a student.”
Following his arrest Tuesday morning, Wicomico County Public Schools released a statement stating that Eure had been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says that despite concerns the former student in question appears to be the only victim.
“We worked closely with our state’s attorney to make sure this case is prosecuted and that every stone is uncovered to find out exactly what happened and if any other student is involved,” said Lewis.
“Right now we have no reason to believe there were any other students involved with this particular member at that school,” said Lewis.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center or the State’s Attorney’s Office.
We will be sure to provide more information as it becomes available.
