Wor-Wic Community College wants you to join their 5K run to support education

SALISBURY, Md. — This morning on Good Morning Delmarva, our morning anchor Erica Murphy sat with Brian Desaulniers to talk about what’s going on at Wor-Wic Community College in another edition of the College Corner. Brian, who is the Chairman of the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation, discussed an upcoming 5K Run/Walk for Wor-Wic.

The event is Saturday, September 21st, at 9 a.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury. Check in and registration begin at 8 a.m. it starts at 9.

The Wor-Wic Community Foundation is supporting this event and they are expecting a couple of hundred people show up to the event this year. Brian says they have an array of people who sign-up every year for the walk and the 5K. Brian says this is his 6th year holding this event.

Brian also mentioned their is a Law Enforcement Team Cup Challenge. The team cup challenge is for the different police departments in the area. Its a competition for the local police departments in the area. Brian says the Wicomico Sheriff’s Department is currently holding the trophy. Its where groups of two to three people from different precincts from around the community that compete against each other every year.

The 5K and one-mile walk are open to the public and the Law Enforcement Team Cup challenge is open to employees of any law enforcement agency. There will be prizes, trophies, and medals for the eight different categories at the event.

The first 100 registrants will get an event shirt.  and all participants are welcome to stay after for refreshment, music, and the awards ceremony.

The registration fee is $25 per person and $35 after September 18th. All proceeds of this event will benefit the students at Wor-Wic, which will support scholarship activity and other educational activities.
