Dover International Speedway hosts annual 9/11 Blood Drive

DOVER, Del. – As the entire nation remembers the attacks that shocked us all eighteen years ago on 9/11, people in Delaware spent the anniversary doing what they could to help.

The Dover International Speedway, the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, and the Blood Bank of Delmarva all teamed up to host their 14th annual blood drive on Wednesday.

Organizers tell 47 ABC that this is their way of honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11, and remembering the sacrifice that Americans across the country made in the days and weeks that followed.

“It’s just a reminder to keep in mind what everybody can do, no matter what position you’re in, anybody can give blood and help donate to this cause,” Mike Lewis, with the Dover International Speedway, said.

To say thank you to those who registered this year, each person received a pair of tickets to the playoff race at the Speedway on October sixth.
