Start Your Engines: Decatur grad prepares for first NASCAR race
BISHOPVILLE, Md. – A Stephen Decatur High School graduate will be living a dream this Thursday when he competes in his first NASCAR event.
Devin Dodson, who graduated in 2017, will be driving the number 32 truck in Ohio at the Eldora Dirt Derby.
Dodson began racing at 6 and worked his way up the ranks, even going to North Carolina and South Carolina to work with Richard Petty Motor Sports.
He says the community has been showing a lot of support leading into the race on Thursday.
“I’ve had a lot of support from the local community, and people, not only on the eastern shore, but all throughout Maryland. You can really see it on my Twitter page, and Facebook where they’ve really stepped up and put it in comments that they’re cheering for me.”
That race will take place on Thursday and you can watch Dodson in the number 32 on Fox Sports 1, which starts at 9 PM.
