Smyrna man arrested on burglary and theft charges

SMYRNA, Del. – A Smyrna man was arrested on multiple charges including burglary and theft early Monday morning.

At around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man breaking into multiple vehicles in the Bombay Woods neighborhood. On arrival to the area, officers observed a vehicle fleeing the neighborhood and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, 29-year-old Donahue Ellis III was positively identified as the man seen breaking into vehicles and was taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that Ellis was possession of items stolen from vehicles, including a rifle and shotgun.

Ellis was charged with three counts of third degree burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, two counts of theft of a firearm and one count of theft under $1500. He was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
