Scholarship created in memory of Ocean City police officers
OCEAN CITY, Md. – It’s been six years since Ocean City Police officers Tom Geoghegan and Joshua Adickes lost their lives in a tragic plane crash. And this year the entire community is honoring their lives by creating a scholarship for future police officers in their names. Deputy Fire Marshal Ryan Whittington who created the scholarship tells us it will go to a seasonal police officer that works for Ocean City who is working to pursue a career in law enforcement. He says the annual scholarship will help provide financial assistance for graduates of the ocean city police department’s seasonal academy. And he adds that it’s the perfect way to make sure the legacy of these brave police officers live on.
“The community of Ocean City and the surrounding areas across Delmarva have not forgotten their service to the community. This basically binds us together into something that we will never be able to forget,” said Whittington.
Whittington adds that if you would like to donate to this scholarship you can do so by heading to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s website here.
