Plans to develop new hotel in Salisbury move forward

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury is one step closer to having a brand new Hilton hotel in the city. The new hotel will go in where Lot 30 is near Brew River Restaurant.

Two years ago the city put the property up for development and Green Street Housing was awarded the bid. On Monday, the Salisbury City Council is set to take the final so the development group can officially move forward with the plans.

“In order to transfer the property to the developer is we actually have to go through a process of abandoning the alleyway there’s a paper alleyway in the block,” explains Salisbury Mayor Jake Day.

In the beginning, the development group had plans for a mixed-use affordable housing complex, but the state instead said there was a need for another hotel downtown.
