Oxford woman struck, killed in Talbot Co.

OXFORD, Md. – An investigation is underway after an Oxford woman was struck and killed while attempting to cross the road Monday evening.

According to police, at around 6:15 p.m., deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist the Oxford Police Department with a serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Investigation revealed that 71-year-old Edith Beglin was trying to cross Oxford Road in the area of Bonfield Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Dante Marquis Kane of Brooklyn, MD.

Beglin was pronounced dead at the scene by Talbot County EMS. Kane was taken to Easton Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Oxford Police Department has requested that the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office by the primary investigating unit, with assistance from the Oxford Police Department and Maryland State Police.
