Counterfeit currency becoming a growing problem

WORCESTER CO., Md. – Counterfeit currency continues to be an issue here locally, and now Sussex County has been effected.

Berlin Police Chief Arnold Downing tells us the Ocean City Police Department recovered counterfeit a $100 bill at a local Five Guys restaurant, with two others found at two Worcester County banks. Another was discovered at a Sussex County bank.

This information comes after Pocomoke Police recovered counterfeit $20 and $100 bills this summer.

Business owners in the area are advised to pay extra attention to small purchases made with large denomination amounts, and to feel the bills and visually inspect them.
