World Blood Donor Day highlights importance of donations

SALISBURY, Md. – The need for blood never takes a holiday, and Friday was the perfect example to highlight just how important donating blood is.

Friday was World Blood Donor Day and the Blood Bank of Delmarva also says it’s a good reminder of the importance of donating something irreplaceable.

The Bank says they always need blood donations, especially during the summer months when crowds flock to the area.

“It’s just harder to get donors in because everybody is on vacation and they’re doing all their summer things, but it’s really important just to stop by for just an hour because you could really make a big difference in someone’s life,” Leanne Butler with the Blood Bank said.

Anyone interested in donating blood can do so at any Blood Bank of Delmarva location.

The process takes about an hour and includes a physical and a short questionnaire.
