The OC Marlins dominate behind Snelsire’s big day on the mound
SALSIBURY, Md.- Behind eight strikeouts through three innings from Decatur grad Hayden Snelsire, the OC Marlins defeated the Wicomico Blue Sox 8-1.
After a run walked in for the Marlins, the game would remain scoreless through the next four innings. Randolf Macom commit Hayden Snelsire was dealing, he had eight strikeouts, no hits and one walk through three complete innings. Trevor Owens started on the mound for the Sox and he was able to strikeout four batters and giving up three hits.
Coming in to relieve Sneslire in the fourth, Alex Gaddis would continue the no hitter for the Marlins for the next three innings. He struck out three and gave up the Blue Sox only hit to, a single into the gap in the sixth.
In the top of the fifth, the bats would start to get going for the Marlins. Gaddis continuing his hot start, he would single into right field scoring Billy Wheatley and Tristan McDonough to extend their lead to three. Jump ahead to the sixth and it would be Snelsire this time, a sac fly into right field bringing Ryan Duncan across the plate. A wild pitch a few batters later would bring Noah Anger home from third and then next batter up, Billy Wheatley grounds out scoring McDonough from third. OC would put up five runs in the sixth, Gaddis with three RBI’s to lead all batters.
Another scoreless inning for the Blue Sox followed by a scoreless inning for the Marlins would lead to one last chance for Wicomico to put some runs on the board. A balk with a man on third led to the Sox first run of the game but with former Decatur ace Tristan McDonough on the mound for OC did not spell good fortune for Wicomico. He struck out the final batter closing the door on any comeback as the boys from Worcester County come out with he 8-1 win.
