Felton man arrested following police chase
FREDERICA, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Felton man early Wednesday morning on drug charges following a police chase.
At around 12:40 a.m., a trooper saw a driver on their cell phone while traveling on Clapham Road in Frederica. The trooper tried to initiate a traffic stop as a result, but the driver refused to stop and led police on a pursuit.
The driver committed several traffic violations, including reckless and aggressive driving, before coming to a stop on northbound Route 1. After making contact with the driver, identified as 28-year-old Taquion Turner, a search of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in the recovery of approximately 19.79 grams of marijuana, approximately 2.28 grams of THC edibles, and drug paraphernalia. Troopers also found approximately 8.01 grams of crack cocaine that was thrown out of the vehicle’s window during the pursuit.
Turner was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, tampering with physical evidence, disregarding a police officer signal, driving while suspended or revoked, reckless driving, aggressive driving, and other traffic violations. He was later released on his own recognizance.
