Delaware State Police arrest man in connection to two burglaries

CAMDEN-WYOMING/MARYDEL, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Camden-Wyoming man this week after identifying him as a suspect in two burglaries.

Delaware State Police received burglary complaints on Fox Hole Road in Camden-Wyoming, as well as on Sandy Bend Road in Marydel during the month of May. Police say the residences were either vacant or under construction, and that the suspect stole scrap metal, flat bed trailers, and tools from the properties.

Further investigation led police to identify 29-year-old David Smith as a suspect, and took him into custody at his residence in the 3000 block of Westville Road on Wednesday. He was charged with second degree burglary, third degree burglary, three counts of felony theft, two counts of criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.

Smith is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,501 secured bond.
