Fruitland educator wins ‘Teacher Who Makes A Difference’ award

FRUITLAND, Md. – On Tuesday, we got the chance to honor a bright star in Wicomico County, as part of our Teacher Who Makes A Difference Award.

April’s winner is Judy Bennett, a fourth and fifth grade teacher, at Stepping Stones Learning Academy in Fruitland.

She’s been teaching there for almost 20 years now but on Tuesday we had a chance to do something she’s never experienced before.

Bennett got a big surprise from 47 ABC for being a teacher in our area that is having a major positive impact on our youth.

She says teaching is her passion because it gives her a chance to make a difference in their lives.

“Right here this moment being here with the children discussing and sharing ideas and growing. I think the discussing part and the hanging out with them is my most favorite part and that’s where we learn and grow and where I learn and grow and where they learn and grow,” explains Bennett.

If you know of a teacher like Judy who deserves to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to teaching students on Delmarva, you can nominate them on our website.
