Young men’s summit inspires Sussex County teens

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Back in November, we told you about a girl’s summit that was held in Delaware to empower young women in Sussex County. But on Thursday, it was all about the boys. Early Thursday morning the Pathways to Success organization held their annual young men’s summit. This years theme was strength. The youth spent the day speaking with local police officers, motivational speakers, and more to show them that despite the challenges they face they still can be successful. And organizers of the event tell us it’s critical to keep these young men on a straight path.

“We really want them to understand that they really are our future and they are the future leaders of our country. What we have to do is to help them understand that they are valued and valuable and worth more than giving up their lives for maybe a short term gain,” said program executive director Fayetta Blake.

While you may have to wait until next year to get your child registered for the annual summit. Services at Pathways to Success are available year round to help at risk youth in the area.
