Vehicle fire closes down part of Bay Bridge on Saturday, authorities say
QUEEN ANNE’S Co., Md. – A vehicle fire shut down part of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
For about an hour, all westbound traffic was stopped. According to the Maryland Transportation Authority’s Twitter, the delays from the standstill stretched back as far as 2.5 miles at one point.
There is no word yet on what caused the vehicle fire or if anyone was injured.
The road was reopened at around 3:20 p.m. MDTA says traffic cleared up around 4 p.m.
