UPDATE: Three arrested in connection to gas station robbery in Frederica
FREDERICA, Del. – Delaware State Police say they have arrested three suspects in connection to the April 13th armed robbery of a Valero gas station in Frederica.
Troopers were called to the scene at around 10:30 p.m. at the Valero located at 7865 Bay Road. The store clerk told police that while he was locking the door to prepare to leave, three masked males armed with handguns approached him and forced their way inside. The suspects then reportedly demanded that the employee open the safe, but when the employee was unable to do so, a struggle ensued and the employee was hit with the handle of a gun.
The suspects stole several tobacco products before fleeing the area on foot.
Through further investigation, 18-year-old Charles Young Jr., 18-year-old Christopher Carter, and a 15-year-old male were identified as suspects.
Young was taken into custody on April 18th after he was seen emerging from a shed in the 300 block of David Street while troopers were responding to a report of shots fired by a group of males in the High Point Mobile Home Park. He was charged with robbery first degree, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, conspiracy second degree, and two counts of reckless endanger first degree. Young is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $46,000 cash only bond.
Carter and the 15-year-old were both taken into custody the next day at their residences in the High Point Mobile Home Park. Both were charged with robbery first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy second degree. The 15-year-old was also charged with possession of a firearm by prohibited juvenile.
Both were arraigned and released on their own recognizance.
