Residents raise concerns over development and drainage at candidates forum
OCEAN VIEW, Del. – Two men vying for the District 1 seat on Ocean View’s town council attempted to win over a crowd of residents at their forum Wednesday evening.
Topics discussed between Bruce White and Gabe Sarate included the potential for a regional police force, increasing problems with parking due to rental properties and drainage issues.
But one of the most attention-grabbing topics of the night was keeping developers in line who change their plans midway through their projects.
“I think the town has to exercise its due diligence and make sure all of these cross the T’s and dot the I’s and follow up religiously,” said White, a former council member in a Maryland town, and a local volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 14 years.
“If something deviates from that, I think they can and I think they should come in and say you need to stop that cease and desist,” said Sarate, a businessman and Ocean View resident.
The town’s election will take place on Saturday, April 13.
