Rep. Andy Harris supports current bay funding levels

SALISBURY, Md. – Congressman Andy Harris (R) is taking a very public stance when it comes to President Donald Trump’s 2020 budget proposal.

Maryland’s 1st District representative says that the Chesapeake Bay Program should continue to receive about 73 million dollars and not the 7.3 million that is reportedly proposed.

“This is the third year the president has proposed cutting Chesapeake Bay spending and I hope we are able to maintain it,” said Rep. Harris. “Hopefuly we can do it this year. We need to keep that program going and we need to keep the forward progress that we’re making in the bay going.”

Maryland Senator Ben Cardin is also against the cuts and says that any effort to diminish financial resources is an effort that could pollute the bay and hurt Maryland’s economy.
